dana white announcement

The UFC will be making a "special announcement" tonight on The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale live on Spike according to UFC.com:

Watch the Ultimate Fighter Finale on Spike TV (9pm ET/PT) for a special announcement made by UFC President, Dana White.

Since the announcement will be made on this season's finale it's highly probable that the announcement pertains to the upcoming seventh season of the show which will debut in early-2008. The announcement could be the names of the coaches for the all-middleweight season (rumored coaches include Forrest Griffin and Quinton Jackson) or more on Dana White's recent interview in which he revealed big changes for the seventh season of the show that has produced numerous UFC fighters including current welterweight champion Matt Serra.

UFC Daily will have extensive live coverage of tonight's event beginning at 7pm ET.

According to UFC.com, Dana White will be making a special announcement tonight on the Ultimate Fighter finale. Most people expect it to be the announcement of Rampage and Forrest as TUF coaches.

Here's a question: Why can't the two fight other people inbetween now and the July finale? Is the taping really so long and strenuous that they can't fight inbetween? No matter what happens their fight is going to be marketable in the end, they should really both fight inbetween. In the worst case scenario, if both lose, it's a big fight to get back into the title picture.
On Saturday night's "Ultimate Fighter Finale", Dana White confirmed Forrest Griffin would play the role of coach on the upcoming Ultimate Fighter Season 7. Griffin was a participant on the innaugural season of TUF and eventually won the show after a fight against Stephan Bonnar which many credit as the catalyst creating the UFC's huge surge in popularity.

While the UFC President, White, did mention Griffin would be stepping into the Octagon against the other Season 7 coach, he cut short of confirming who the other individual would be other than to say the announcement would be made on Sunday's Video Game Awards.

Those paying close attention to this weekend's Ultimate Fighter Finale may have noticed Forrest Griffin and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson standing side-by-side on the VGA stage. The reason for this is, as has been rumored for some time, Jackson will be announced as the second TUF 7 coach during the broadcast.

Though "Rampage" and Griffin both fight at 205-pounds, the collective sentiment floating around MMA circles is that the season will focus on Middleweight fighters - a UFC division definitely needing an infusion of personality and talent
